Never A Dull Moment: A Minor Setback

So there is a camera grim-reaper out there or something because over the past month we have had 3 camera deaths in the family. First our regular camera, then my moms camera, then our video camera! This is all "great" timing because last week Grayce took about 5 steps on her own!! The whole reason we got a video camera in the first place was for times like these! So we're sending it back to get looked at, which could take months before we see it again. :( Our apologies in advance for the lack of pictures but we'll try to get them from other sources for the time being.

But yes, we have an amateur walker on our hands! She's taking after her daddy in that department because he walked at 9 months. Ever since she learned how to crawl, she has not really wanted much to do with it outside of using it to get to the next couch, coffee table, or chair that she could pull up on and scale. She had taken a step or 2 for Tim and I but nothing full blown. Then, last Friday, I got together with some friends and their 1 year olds for some "naked baby finger painting." Grayce had crawled over to the side of the house to pull up on it and walk along it. We're standing there talking and I look down to see Grayce walking over to the other babies!! She took about 5 steps (give or take) and me screaming "she's walking, she's walking!" until she bounced down on her bottom. Im half convinced she had a sudden burst of confidence seeing the other babies walk around so easily, because since then, she has taken about 2-3 steps at the most every now and then. So we'll see what happens, I'll keep you posted.

I have had the past week or so off and have another week left until I start back teaching again next Monday. I'll be teaching another business class, keyboarding, and a portfolio class, which teaches the students to put together a portfolio and prep for interviews. This quarter runs until October, and then I will have another week or 2 off. Tim is doing well, working hard and also working on his web/graphic design business on the side. So he's continuously busy. Tex is also doing well, and we are in the process of lining him up to get neutered at some point this summer. For those of you wondering why we haven't done it sooner (he's 16 months), its because with giant breeds, its good to let the testosterone do its job until all the growth plates are set into place and he grows properly.
